Signs, Out With the Old in With the New

Some sign of modern society are becoming the symbol or meaning of what the sign is. Like the double arch, around the world this sign has been the symbol of what McDonalds is. If you would ask anyone around the world what this sign is, they would think immediately of McDonalds. This is why I chose this sign to be whats now and also a symbol for fast food.

Old

Today when people see this they associate this with pirates specifically pirates of old and the ones you see in movies like "Pirates of the Caribbean". Back during the golden age of piracy this was there symbol that sailors feared. This sign also has a symbol to it, its mostly known as death. These days piracy still goes on around the world but they have evolved and rarely use this flag. This is why I chose this symbol of death and pirates because of its famous history and stories from the past.

Define Communication

Communication means the exchange between people by thoughts, opinions, or information by speech, writing, or signs. This means by using hand signs, ideas or thoughts, by writing to others, and even signs and symbols to interact with others with a foreign language or with someone who lost one of there senses in order to communicate with them.
When I see communication I think of  me trying to have a conversation with my grandparent who don't speak English. I have to use hand motion and the small amount of knowledge that I have. By using hand motion and some Spanish I'm able to interact with my grandparents and breaking the language barrier that had separated us, now is no longer a problem for me. I believe with signs, symbols, hand motions, ect. people can communicate to others and without the need for learning the language.
 In the World today people who have lost some of there senses communicate to others with hand motion and there own language. Even if you go to another country and you don't speak there language hand motion and using your senses breaks the language barrier and allows people to communicate with each other. People who have lost there speech have to learn a disability language. To communicate with them you can use sounds so they can see what your saying and you can use hand motion and using this you can communicate with them with out learning sign language.

The all the wealth of the world, all the greatest heights or depths, neither the greatest dreams, nor anything else in all creation can ever compare the the gifts and blessings from God. God created the world around us. God created us. God didn't build a toll booth to collect user fees for life. Instead, life is free, and being in the created world is free; it's a gift. We humans are the ones who attach fees to what's been freely given to us. The biggest gift of all, however, isn't other people, and isn't nature, or the universe, or family. The biggest gift in all of existence is that we are given the Giver - the same Greatest One who was Job's only satisfaction and Moses' only strength is now given to humankind. God chooses not only to put up with us, but to be with us. That's what all this Jesus talk means - that's why Jesus matters. He is, in Christmas-talk, "God-with-us", Immanuel. That is the gift of Jesus. But Jesus is not walking among us today. So another gift has been given - God in yet another way, the divine Spirit through whom Christ is still in effect right here and now. This Spirit leads, shapes, empowers, and gives us joy. The gift a Christian lives in every day, most fundamentally, is the Holy Spirit.

In the Great Gatsby, Gatsby has very great dreams that he aims for but never reaches. He believes that he can reach his dreams and receive and do what ever he desires with his great wealth. However he doesn’t understand that to reach the blessings of his dreams, they all must be given from God through the Holy Spirit that he does not have. He tries to reach his dreams by corrupt means and when he gains money his desire for wealth grows more and is never satisfied.

One of Man’s greatest dreams is to have great wealth and have great power.

In the California Gold Rush people from the developing U.S. rushed to California trying to reach their dream of great wealth. About 150,000 people died trying to reach California drived by their desire for wealth and riches. Knowing the high risk of death, people still went on. Most died on their journey and those who made it created small boom towns. Though they lasted until all the surfaced gold was gone on the state, then the boom town became a ghost town. They moved on to other gold findings in other states still drived by their desire and unsatisfied hunger for Gold. Their dream for wealth has has blinded them from the true wealth and gifts; The Blessings from God through the Holy Spirit.

This quote doesn’t pertain to me because I have the Holy Spirit and I’m receiving gifts and blessings from God. Following God I will obtain great wealth without God I would be following the same foolish dreams that man pursues everyday. I would be studying for 14 years and save other peoples’ lives for the wrong reasons. Everyday I would be unsatisfied with the wealth I posses and I would crave more and be consumed in my own desires of the world. I would use my wealth to buy worldly processions believing that money will make me happy, but never it. I would spend the rest of my life enjoying the toys I obtained but in the end none of it truely matters. In the end I have sold my soul for riches and power and I would never see the Gates of Heaven.

DC Talk and The Voice Of The Martyrs

Jesus Freaks

Have you ever been persecuted, hated, and even tortured by others just because of your faith and belief in Jesus Christ and God? Have ever been afraid of revealing or telling others in you believe in God and Jesus? Thousands of Christian Martyrs around the world experience the same things everyday. Some of the greatest martyrs who died standing up for Jesus Christ are in the book Jesus Freaks. The Stories of these martyrs are inspiring, they have many references to the Scripture, and the stories themselves are interesting to read about.

These stories are meant to inspire readers and teach us from the examples of others who did it right by hanging on to Jesus and Jesus alone, through even the hardest trial of their lives. One of the stories shows alot of that like the story of Anila and Perveen. Two girls about 17/18 years old who live in Pakistan and they are brutally tortured and killed for what they believe in. Anila converted Perveen who was Muslim into Christianity. Perveen’s parents strongly disapproved of this and tried to force her back to her old Religion, but she ran and her parents called the police and they arrested Alina and her pastor. She was beaten and tortured for the entire day and was released. Months later Perveen’s parents found her and they sent her brother to kill Perveen. Then Alina was arrested again and suffered more for a month and through thousands of prayers around the world she was released and acquitted of all charges. To this very day she hides from the radical Muslims strong in the Lord who has given her the strength to carry on doing God’s will.

Real life events that are happening today have been foretold by God thousands of years ago. Things like economy crash, new world order, even natural disasters have all been predicted by the Bible for the Ending of Days. That however is not the only thing that has been referenced in the Bible, peoples’ lives. In Jesus Freaks the stories that they have are somehow references to the Bible that show that the Bible is the truth and everything that has been said in the Bible is coming to reality. Like the story of Alina and Perveen, Perveen was killed by her own brother, because she converted and her own father approved of it. Jesus says, “Brothers will give their own brothers to be killed, and fathers will give their own children to be killed. Children will fight against their own parents and have them put to death. All people who keep their faith until the end will be saved”(Mathew 10:21,22). Doesn’t the same thing Jesus say happen in the World today?

People around the world Muslim, Atheist, Jewish, Catholic, everyday people who don’t have a care for Religion, all sizes, race, people, and colors have all found God and Jesus Christ. The stories in which they converted and have stayed with the Lord are amazing and interesting to read about the power of God at work. Ivan was a Private in the Soviet Union during the cold war. He always believed in God and sang in worship to God, but everyday he was interrogated by the Communists who tried to re-educate him into believing in there Atheist ways of Science. When an Angel descended to Earth to see him the Angel gave him encouraging words from God to not be afraid because he was with him. Then he grew even stronger and happier in the Lord and told of God to his comrades in the barracks. Soon they were converted, but then his officers tried to strip him of his faith and ordered him stand in the cold Russian winter in a summer uniform until he renounced his faith. He stood there for an entire day praying and praising the lord. He was cold but never died, for God was with him and he never gave up on God and for twelve nights he was ordered to do the same thing. Soon however the communists killed him and he is now in heaven enjoying the riches he earned. His experience in life has inspired me never to lose faith in God no matter what happens to me.

I loved this book for its inspirational text and stories I have read, my new view of the world, and for helping me to stay stronger in God. I recommend it to everyone so they may to read about the greatness of God through real life stories and events that happened in people’s lives and they may develop a relationship or a stronger one with the Lord. I rate this great piece of work a Five Out Of Five and I pray you find this book as great as I do. It is an interesting, spiritual, and inspiring ride that shows you what is truely happening in the lives of Christians in countries who oppose it or even God. I ask that you pray for these countries and people so that one day they to may find the joy and love of the Lord and pray for all those who suffer by them so God may give them the strength to over come there obstacles.
